My observations on the growing popularity of AI
Artificial Intelligence is starting to become mainstream. From Alexa to the chatbot and search engine bing, you can find it around every corner it seems. But, is it going to be all it’s mentioned itself to be?
I remember movies like Speilberg’s AI and Terminator, where AI systems run amok and create havoc and mayhem. But I also remember Data in Star Trek and other incarnations that help humans understand this vast and beautiful universe. So, as with everything, there is a twist. But, like it or not, AI is here to stay. Now those that have the powers to be, like Elon, need to come up with AI’s self powered governance systems so that it does not turn on us humans. Not a small feat indeed.
On to tech and how it applies to AI. Tech “is” AI. Without many servers and networks, there is NO AI. So that being said, onward to this topic.
The future. What is in it for you and me in a world with AI
Firstly, I don’t think all of our Tech jobs are in jeapordy. Like I said, without IT staff and automation running behind the scenes, there is no AI. Period. So, for those IT admins worried about their job, dont.
Second, Source Code. Look, this day and age, source code is becoming easier. I think systems engineers and software developers will still be needed. Not in the sense that they write all the code, but they would lead that. They could provide valuble insight to design and maintain the AI based build system of the future. So, to all those thinking of majoring in computer science and going for development, do it. Do not think of this as a dead future where AI will dominate you and your career. Just be bold and write the next greatest AI based build platform and march on. For you, for humanity.
